Times Leader Story (Pittston Twp.)

WILKES-BARRE – A judge on Wednesday made sure an all-nude strip club won’t open, for now, in a section of Pittston Township.

  • ANOTHER BIG high five to you mr. Family!!!!! 'cause of your website campaign, it has already been long established that surrounding municipalities - maybe more in the country - have strengthened their ordinances. Now Pittston has gotten on the bandwagon! Yesssss!!!
Golly, gee, how many times has it been said that this effort is meaningless and for so many concocted reasons...wait now, I'm not done counting.....

  • Golly G. This is what should of happened with G-Club. Tells one of the level of competence of the WB-TWP council.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:45 AM

  • Sadly, this will more than likely change. They may be able to ban a BYOB club, but they can not ban nude dancing.
The PA Constitution is too heavy on it. if they appeal it, and fight hard enough, they will open.

  • Yep,5:17, you can bet big money to win that the porns will be crawling out of their holes to start clamoring with their lawsuits! They'd fight til their last breath and last their penny to have the right to show their sex parts and to drooool!!!! A very worthy and socially needed cause for Pittston, they think.

  • 4:45 a, and to think two of the jerky wbt council "men" got an instant "unexpected," $5000 raise each upon their re-election that ironically was printed in the early morning CV article only hours after the polls closed! They're all as dumb as a fox!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:57 AM

  • I guess the gclub is happy with the decision less competition!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:52 AM

  • problem for wb township was it already had adult establishments in it for over 20 years and had written laws to regulate new ones not to outlow them.
and the jury is still out in pittston twp.

  • 5:17 "The PA constitution is too heavy on it." True. It's up to voters to let their representatives in Harrisburg know that, not only will we not let them get away with raising their own salaries whenever they feel like it, we also DON'T WANT ANY MORE STRIP JOINTS IN NEPA. It's also interesting to note that neither the owners of the proposed Pittston BYOB dive nor the attorneys representing them live in the community upon which they seek to force this latest sex business.

  • oh heck, valiant sal will protect this area from the forcers!!!! according to g's w/s statement -- out of sincere consideration for the valley of course -- good ol' sal and pals wanted to establish g-dive10 so that no out-of-area moguls would invade and take $$$$$ advantage of this area......a community where he was born and raised and has the utmost allegiance to maintain its quality and have an on-going friendship.
i kid you not. it does say that.

  • Idea, Mr. Family! provoked by 2:33pm. On the web, there is a site called www.petitionsite.com Any type of petition can be started, with a lot of them being directed to govt. officials. The first screen asks for personal info such as name, e-address, etc., for credibility, and it is kept confidential. The next screen is for each petitioner to add their count to the petition, with a preference to be totally anonymous or not, doesn't matter. "Votes" can only be electronically submitted once for credibility. After a pre-set goal and time is determined by the creator of the petition, it is then submitted to the intended party.
Pro-clubs would not be able to interfere with it because each petition is automatically considered a "vote" in favor of the petition.
Do you think you would be able to arrange a petition on that site so that we may tell our reps. we do not want any more strip clubs in NEPA?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:53 AM

  • Mr. Family had brought to our attention, as well as the pro-club advocates did, that our area is being unundated with sex clubs. For some reason, this area seems to be fertile grounds for a lot of obvious desperately unhappy people who need to go to the extreme to depend on exhibitionism and lack of self-control to fill their voids. Unfortunately, the rest of society suffers while they are having elusive "fun" that amounts to nothing but the continuous cycle of self-destruction and more unhappiness. It would be more personally responsible for them to explore what ever is the cause of their abnormal behavior rather than be left with empty, unfulfilled lives.

  • to 453am-- it would have more credibility if you wrote directly to your elected officials, anonymous
emails, letters mean nothing to elected officials.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:09 AM

  • anon 7:09 am you mean like all the e-mails and letter Mr.Family sent out?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:48 PM

  • The anonymity of names on the petitions is only kept anonymous from the general public for privacy sake on the internet. It is not anonymous emails. It is a technoligically ingenious system with impact and credibility that has replaced the door-to-door style gathering of signatures. It has been in effect for well over two years that I know of, and it has been productive. Sometimes the creators of the petitions do not even have an area for names on the "voting" list because they are not necessary. Just the town and state. The "voting" can only be done once for credibilty. It is similar to the actual political election voting procedure but done on the computer.

  • to 448 pm- my daughter worked for a congressman (internship,) letters etc from anonymous persons are discarded.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:51 AM

  • 11:51,
How much involvement have you had with that petition site? Have you even ever seen it?
Any form of communication to politicians is discarded if there is nothing in it for them financially or to enhance their careers. Let's just say that being inundated with petitions to take action banning the over-whelming amount of strip clubs in NEPA would be a gold star on their political report card for re-election. They will be all ears.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:58 PM

  • 1058pm no it would not.
personally written letters even phone calls are much more effective than petitions from a web site, problem is that site and others can be loaded a thousand times by one anonymous person, Congress etc isn't stupid and they have to acknowledge each letter written to them.
so write to them and tell them how you feel.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:20 PM

  • 10:58,
Again, I ask you: how much involvement have you had with that petition site? Have you ever even seen it?
Again, the "votes" can only be electronically registered ONCE per the petitioners e-address, not a thousand times. The computer will not accept but one. It is not completely anonymous but only for the sake of privacy ON the internet. Congress IS stupid and self-serving, and they do not acknowledge letters to them with a response every time. FYI, it is their office staff who filters all in-coming. The politicians only really want to hear from special interest groups who will support them $$$$$$$ and make sweetheart deals.
Non-financially backed petitions are only of interest to them if they can find a reason in it to enhance their careers for re-election. If Mr. Family or whoever is capable of executing this petition can support it with political logic, then the politicians will be alert.

Does it rattle you more knowing that someone else has had experience with all of this OR are you just trying to dissuade petitioners from joining in on an electronic massive scale to ban nudey clubs??

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:39 PM

  • to 239 pm join if you want to but your elected officials will probably not look at it-- btw I have several email addresses that means I can vote 7 times-- wait i can get a few more email addreses at hotmail.com and stuff the ballot box even more.
and if what you are saying about politicians is true, why even bither with this site. Like who is going to see it?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:41 AM

  • 6:41,
You really need to enroll in a reading comprehension course.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:25 AM

  • well, i am not the one sending anonymous complaints
and then griping that politicians are crooked and won't read them. You really need to emroll in a reality comprehension course.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:29 AM

  • to 239pm
Gov Rendell; I just recievd this anonymous petition from someone named mr family, we are going to close down the nudie bars, because some people find them offensive.
I also got another anonymous petition from mr sober, about drinking, we are going to close the liquor stores and bars because some people find them offensive and immoral.
We are also going to close blood donation centers, because some people find them offensive and giving blood is against some religions.
I rely on anonymous websites to make my decisions and not from actual people who write me and call.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:39 AM

  • Mr. Family,
It's too bad that literacy and a certain IQ level aren't requirements to enter blogs on your website. But then again, 6:29 and 6:39 pointed out the reason why this really isn't a debate is because the have no comprehensive abilities and factual grounds on which they can base their opposing arguments. Do you think maybe they were infused with some bad blood or some bad hooch?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:59 AM

  • to 259 am truth hurts and when you get it with the truth you resort to name calling. And your religious beliefs are?
And as far as you believing that policticians are going to pay any attention to that web site... seek professional help..
Mark Twain said " faith is believing something you know isn't true."

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:19 AM

  • 7:19
Hey, the truth would hurt when one can't admit that he or she hasn't had previous experience with that world-wide petition site, involvement with political matters to that effect, and has an absence of reading comprehension. Sorry, my reading comp. didn't pick up on any names about name calling. Sorry, too, but this campaign is not about my religious beliefs. Wow! Mark Twain spoke to you!?? You had better tell Siggie Freud about that!
That petition site has been doing wonders for years despite your very recent negative opinions.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:59 PM

  • to 359-- i read books that how I know what mark twain said, oh wait I guess you are too busy on the internet to read a book.
if this site has been doing wonders for years as you and the web site claim, well then do not wait for mr family, start that petition!
