Adult Bookstores

Why has Adult World in Larksville placed privacy gates around their parking lot? Who goes there and what are they doing while they are there? Do the products they sell violate obscenity standards? What takes place in their back rooms and private booths? These are questions that should be asked about every local adult business.....that is.....unless we are comfortable with this activity occurring in our communities.

  • Get over yourself will ya. If your so concerned go there and look around. Nothing illegal is goin on at any of these places. It's a BOOK AND VIDEO STORE. And ya know whatpeople go there. Why do they have a fence? Come one, Why do you hide YOUR identity? I think you have something more to hide then these adult stores. We get it, you don't like porn. Blah blah blah.

  • Anyone notice how more people posting comments are telling Mr. Family where to stuff it, then agreeing with him?

Maybe because more people in the community are against him than for him?

    Ever think of that?

  • Yeah I noticed that. That's because more of those "stuff it" people are sooooo rattled that they have to constantly defend their misery with their ugly ideas.

  • Ever notice that 80% of voters in Wilkes-Barre Twp. voted against BYOB clubs. I have to say, that doesn't make me feel like I'm in the minority.

  • Yeah, 80% of a total of 600 people voted That says alot for WB township. Mostly Elderly, the same morons that voted against the arena, the MAIN reason we have new life in this area. The people here fear change. They said the area would bring crime and unwanted people. Look what it has done for us.
If that club does something illegal, then shut it down, burn it, whatever. But as it stands, they have 100% legal right to be there. Just as any other buinssess. Just because you do not like it's adult content does not matter. Nor does the opinion of your 80%. They are legal, and have the same rights as you. So if they catch a pic of you while your out taking pics of their parking lot, they have the right to post it.

  • Many of the people offended by sex businesses do not have access to computers, whereas the prime demographic for these businesses, namely young and middle-aged men, spend the most time on computers. The bottom line is that voters in Wilkes-Barre Township have clearly voiced their opposition to establishments of this type and will not tolerate or condone their continued operation, no matter how much strip clubs pay to force themselves on the community.

  • Mr. Family,

You say that 80% of voters voted against BYOB clubs. What was the actual number of voters who voted against BYOB clubs?

  • the bookstore you mentined is owned by the same person/corp that owns the others, ie wb twp, rt 6,
drums, pottsville, berwick etc. as they been operating for over 25 years,it would be a safe bet that nothing illegal is going on.
I do find it ironic, that you ask why a privacy fence, when you yourself hide behind the internet.

  • hey, Mr family how do you feel about gay bars? There are three in Luzerne County and soon to be four.
Should we be concerned about that?

  • Mr. Family,

You said that you don't feel like you are in the minority because 80% of the voters voted against BYOB clubs. The final vote count was 491-123 against BYOB clubs. That is 80% of 614 people. Wilkes-Barre Township has a population of 3,235. So you have 15% of the township that are definitely on your side. What about Wilkes-Barre? Wilkes-Barre has a population of 41,559. It is safe to assume that the Gentlemen's Club gets far more business from Wilkes-Barre residents. It is logical to conclude that you're really in the minority.

  • If everyone keeps talking about how this club will not be shut down becuase it will be "Grandfathered", how did the town of Meadville, PA shut down Synn City? A town that did not even have any ordances for adult byob clubs? Google it and find out!

  • Since there are several variety of sex business through the county perhaps we can have a county wide vote and see how those results pan out...Mr Family what do you thing on that score?

That place closed do to it's lack of buisness. It was a crap hole, much like many of the buildings and bars in Meadville, and no one would go there. Yes the city fought it, but the owner did not have the funds to fight back do to almost no buisness.

But even if they do not get grandfathered in, the club can say no alcohol, as the vote, and ban were against BYOB clubs, not against strip clubs and remain open with a lower age limit.
