  • DROVE BY ON FRI. NITE ONLY A COUPLE CARS BYE BYE SAL

  • Did I miss something with that second article? The voters of Hillsborough County have to have a referendum to "ask" voters if the regulations should be enforced to the fulles extent???
Whatever, the drift I got from both articles is that an out-of-control Pandora's box has been opened in both communities. And unfortunately it takes things to get worse before officials and residents struggle to make it better. First, strip clubs prove that they are crime inducers, but by then too many needless crimes have occured.
If the greedy officials weren't so hungry for money in the first place, ordinances and zoning laws would have been already been or should have been established. But no, first they are thoughtless about it, then they have to deal with all the crimes that occur. Nothing can be said for human intelligence there, but lots can be said about greed and stupidity!
Whatever, people in this area really should take note as to what is about to happen if they don't get off their duffs and do something now!

  • It's way past time that the club's investors be exposed. Whether they be politicians, businessmen, or professionals, it's not going to be good for their image...and down goes their income. ouch!!! that hurts the most!!!!!!!
I mean really, who wants to support politicians or be business consumers or pay professionals for services when that (our) money is forwarded to supporting the decay of our society.

  • Are you able to use video of people going in to club ten? Did you get our e-mail?

  • The problem is that Wilkes-Barre Township did not have the ordinances in place to
keep g club 10 out. It failed to act to g club's application in a timely manner as required by law. It is too late to do something after the club is there.

  • I got your e-mail. Thank you. I prefer digital photos, if possible. Is the video in a digital format (ie, digital video camera, cell phone video, etc.)?

  • Question to Mr. Family, or 1:09 Pm, or to anyone who can shed some light on the zoning-ordinance situation.

When I attended a W-BTwp. council meeting years ago, a business (peron) wanted the approval to be zoned. Several lenghty lists of types of businesses were clearly read off by a councilman as to what types of businesses could be allowed in the Twp.

Being very alert, no doubt I would remember if "strip clubs" or any kind of business title to that effect was mentioned to be allowed.
So how did the strip club get past that?
In other words, how could the strip club even file an application if no business titles to that effect were allowable as read from the lists?

  • The website is nice but did you ever think about other ways to make a difference about this cause Mr. Family. Reaching out to the demographic without Internet access or who do not have a computer may help. It may be my opinion but there has to be a different way to make a difference with this situation than just on the computer. I dont know all the legalities and such but are there any other ways to stop the club that can be done by you and the supporters? My feeling is the way to make change is to advocate for it in many different ways. So whats next?

  • It's digital. I will break it up into smaller segments and e-mail it. Use what you like.

Keep doing what you're doing. You're speaking a language that many of us understand.

  • OK MR. Family here's a challenge to encourage you and all your supporters to have the Luzerne County Commissioners implement a question on the voters ballot such as that which has been done in Hillsorough County Florida. If you want the demise of these type of adult businesses in our community. It's a great way to get the entire county population involved, as most voters in this county are decent and moral people, it fairly certain that the majority would vote for a control to these type of businesses. Let's get this started, PLEASE!

  • rachel, Mr. Family can answer for himself, so this is only my opinion. Writing to the newspapers, protest demonstrations (that will be picked up by the news medias), boycotting the businesses of investors, and personally (verbally) or in pamphlets educating the public about all the vices that flow from strip clubs. All are within legal bounds.

With the amount of sales Adult world does in Larksville (Enough to open more 2 locations) and other of the same type of stores and clubs, a county wide vote may not be the best thing. And Florida is not the best example when using ideas about voting. Of course, nor is our area after the tampering when we voted on the Arean years ago.

  • ..........anybody have a boat to go rescue Jules????
    Karma is a wonderful thing!!!

  • I love the idea of the County Commissioners drafting a ballot question regarding sexually oriented businesses. Anything to discourage their presence in our county would be a wonderful thing.

My next question is this...do any readers of this blog have a suggestion as to how we can go about doing that? What is the first step we need to take?

    Let's make this happen.

By Blogger Mr. Family, at 10:14 AM

  • Not trying to discourage the idea of County Commissioners-no, not at all. I love it too. But who knows if some of the County Commissioners or their cronies are some of the investors and will drag this issue thru the mud as the W-B officials did with the woman who tried get a referendum about the Heights firehouse.
Just saying this is something to look out for.
My suggestion about the first step needed to take is caution.
They may go for it at first, nicey-nice, then find all kinds of concocted things that would go against it before it reaches being a ballot question.
County Commissioners would have to take a firm stand on supporting this great ballot idea.
That brings me to the suggestion of contacting them first, get their views (preferably in acknowledgments in the newspapers) and then asking how to go about it.

  • YES Mr Family the comment anonymous at 11:49 AM has made is very valid letters and comments to the local news papers & media would work well, there is no greater power than the press. Let the media get the pornography stores and BYOB CLUBS out in the open and that will certainly prompt the county commissioners to get motivated. Keep in mind that next year the county commissioners will be coming up for reelection and I am sure that all 3 of them want to be back in office. The time is ripe, public opinion is important. With the news media describing what filth this county has with adult businesses be confident that the these businesses can be slowed down. Keep in mind that most voters are decent and law abiding people, it certainly worth a try, thus far this is the best way to slow these businesses down. Nothing else has worked thus far. Let the news media get hold of this topic, let them carry the ball, then get it on the ballot and then let the voters decide.
