In response to this effort to expose the problems of having a strip club located directly across from our mall, I have noticed some subtle (but not so significant) changes.

1. I was contacted by several readers of this blog to let me know that Gentlemen's Club 10 has removed the pornographic content from their website. They advertise their website on Interstate 81 and on large signs outside of their building. Any child can go home and type their web-address into the browser bar and gain a virtual view of club activity.

This appeared to be a good thing....a step in the right direction. But alas, such is not the case. Gentlemen's Club 10 uses their website to link to other porn sites and it also maintains a mirror-site that still hosts it's pornographic content. Again, this site is linked to the address advertised on the outside of their building......in full view of minors.

2. Several people, myself included, have contacted Besko Media, the current company that is renting billboard space to Gentlemen's Club 10 on Interstate 81. Here is a copy of my correspondence with them.

Dear Mr. Besko,

You may be aware of this already, but I believe your company is advertising a pornographic website on one of its billboards. Gentlemen's Club 10's website contains pornographic material. Their site is included on their billboard on Interstate 81. What is Besko Media's policy on advertising pornographic content?

Mr. Family

Here is Mr. Besko's response to my question.

Absolutely nothing illegal or pornographic. Thank you.

Jerry Besko

3. So as it stands now, Gentlemen's Club 10 still promotes pornographic material and Besko Media is violating their own policy to allow the club to do so. Mr. Besko states on his website that his hope is to see his business expand and grow. I personally wish him the best, but I cannot understand why he states a policy of no pornography, yet he advertises a business that promotes it. This is done in full view of every child who travels on Interstate 81. It isn't right.

Gentlemen's Club 10 and Besko Media are both violating community decency standards by refusing to remove references to this content from their advertising.

You can contact Besko Media by clicking here. (I would give you Club 10's contact info. as well, but they could care less about decency standards, so why bother).

  • What about the company that
hosts your website, mr family, they host porn too.

  • Have you been on the web lately? You can get pronographic material simply by typing a google search for it. What child would even see the website address and remember it traveling 65 mph on the highway unless some adult pointed it out. I don't know about you, but my children are usually fighting, listening to music or asleep when we are traveling the interstate.

  • Actually, this website is hosted for free on Blogger. Blogger discourages content like that and requests that it be reported to them if one of the blogs on their server is hosting porn.

    Nice try.

How about answering my question about community decency standards before trying to change the subject.

  • first off every single strip club on the strip club list is linked to this, so get over yourself, next they have features that come in and perform that are pornstars.... get over yourself! go after the whorehouses and nasty massage parlors and leave this place alone! FREEDOM OF CHOICE IS WHAT AMERICA IS ABOUT!!!!

  • The cosa nostra is alive and well in the valley. Then you have the scum of the earth from New York City coming here selling drugs. You have shootings weekly not to mention the daily Turkey Hill robberies or the daily hit & run and all you people care about is Club 10 and porn. Keep focusing on Club 10 while your children overdose. You make it sound like Sal is selling drugs, guns and hookers from a back room. I wish someone would post crime statitics from before and after the clubs opening. I'm sure you will there is no difference.

  • THE BEGINNING OF THE END?
a sure sign that gclub10 is in trouble is that they ran a half page ad in the weekender paper this week! keep up the great work Mr. Family!!!
p.s. that little missy, who lives in publich housing on the west side of the river, removed her name from their ad, but her cell phone number is still
listed, seeking new dancers to exploit. hope the housing authority is pay attention! to bad her first full name and picture appear on page 41 of the june 7, 2006 edition of the weekender!!! guess she is not that slick in avoiding this topic!

  • bob vila, you certainly have two minds of your own! One mind spouts off about the scum of the earth things. The other mind defends SALacious things. a bit schizo????

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:47 AM

  • These pro-club bloggers make me wonder if they are going to use the same excuses when they meet their Maker.

"well..uh, um, why don't you get over yourself, Maker?"

"uh, uh, I had my rights ya know."

"you know everything, Maker. don't you know that indecent standards were ok?

"but, but, but I had freedom of choice."*

*Note the contradictory statements from anonymous 7:14 am.
"go after the whorehouses and nasty massage parlors and leave this place (the club) alone! FREEDOM OF CHOICE IS WHAT AMERICA IS ALL ABOUT!!!!"
(Don't the patrons of whorehouse and nasty massage parlors have a freedom of choice????)

  • bob vila said all that needs to be said on this matter. Might as well shut down this site right now. I had enough. I left Wilkes Barre after 30 years. You have much bigger issues then a strip bar in NEPA. "The great place to raise a family". Yeah right! Keep telling yourselves that. You can't raise families while ducking bullets and drug scum from Jersey and New York. Especially when there are no jobs in NEPA. I'll live with all the strip clubs where Im at now but I'm not ducking from bullets everyday and living in a downtown that looks like a ghost town day and night.

  • No big mystery behind the Sal Scalzo/Jerry Besko relationship.
    Money is their common bond.
    The heck with everybody else.

No big mystery behind the Mr. Family/supporters relationship.
    No financial gain.
Only seek cleaner community for everybody else.

  • I figured gclub10 was opened to keep the drug pushers, visiting scum from NY & Philly, shooters, robbers and now 18-year olds off the streets so that the decent people can continue shopping and going out to restaurants in the area without fear.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:10 PM

  • why does it say "jersey" in front of their web address in this weeks weekender ad (6-7-06)? does anyone know?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:05 PM

Discouraged or not, within a few clicks
of here, you end up with some nasty stuff. I emailed you this from the start, you really should host this
on its own site. Or find a way to get
rid of that "next blog" stuff up top.
I have seen other blogs without it.

  • It took some work, but I found out how to remove it. Thanks for the heads up.

By Blogger Mr. Family, at 8:59 AM

  • The club ran a half page ad a few weeks ago so no they aren't running out of $. That's what you all want to happen, will not the dancers make them too much $ for them to shut down from loss of $!

Testimony at a hearing Monday for Superdad's manager Antonio Dangio indicated telephone calls placed from the club were being monitored - but not as part of the state police bookmaking probe.

Mr. Dangio, 40, of Mayfield, is charged with 68 felony and misdemeanor counts in connection with a sports betting operation that investigators say was centered on the gentlemen's club.

Magisterial District Judge Sean McGraw recessed Mr. Dangio's preliminary hearing after nearly three hours of testimony Monday. It is expected to resume later in the week.

Under questioning by defense attorney John Petorak, state police Cpl. Kevin Schmidt said he learned during his investigation of Mr. Dangio that a "pin register" to keep track of outgoing calls had been placed on the business telephone at Superdad's.

Cpl. Schmidt said he did not initiate the surveillance, and Assistant District Attorney Amy Phillips objected when Mr. Petorak asked the investigator who did.

"I would instruct the witness to refuse to answer," said Ms. Phillips, who had earlier objected to questions about other possible investigations as irrelevant to the charges against Mr. Dangio.

The hearing recessed briefly while the attorneys met behind closed doors with Lackawanna County Judge Vito Geroulo, who sustained Ms. Phillips' objection.

Earlier, Cpl. Schmidt testified he placed bets directly with Mr. Dangio at Superdad's on 18 occasions between September and January.

At the time, the officer said, he was running football bets for another defendant, Paul Fife, and would go to the club on a weekly basis to collect the winnings and pick up new betting sheets.

Mr. Fife, 58, of Mayfield, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty Friday to two gambling-related misdemeanors. He is expected to testify when Mr. Dangio's hearing resumes.

In the meantime, preliminary hearings for six Superdad's dancers on prostitution charges were postponed Monday.

They are expected to be rescheduled next month.

  • it is a shame that girls have to PAY THE OWNERS to take their clothes off and be exploited....

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:16 AM

  • no one is being exploited, we choose to be dancers!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:27 AM

  • "DANCERS" HA!!! just like the title "gentlemen" is belittled by "gentlemen's club," you "dancers" belittle the title of talented and artistic beauty of real dancers.
    use your real titles: "$mutter$."

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:30 AM

  • ANONYMOUS DANCER 8;27 AM

    NO ONE IS BEING EXPLOITED????
    DANCERS??????

SURELY YOU JEST ON BOTH COMMENTS!!
OR YOU ARE SEVERLY DISILLUISIONED ON BOTH COMMENTS??

FACE REALITY: YOU CHOOSE TO BE EXPLOITED!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:47 AM

  • First off, I'm an entertainer! I do pole dancing, therefore I am expressing the art of music by dancing and performing tricks on a pole. I am not exploted in anyway. I choose to do this, and I have a college degree. The fact of the matter is, that I make 100 times more money doing this then being a pediatric nurse! You all are suppose to follow the word of God but you judge and belittle others that you think less of. You in turn are going to hell with the rest of us, as you claim is going to happen to us. Get real with yourselves first before you even try to get real with God! You wouldn't even know I was a entertainer if you seen me in the store, I most likely go to church with many of you!
