Speaking the obvious

For over a month now, I have been stating some things that to me seem quite obvious. I have made comments like, "strip clubs hurt property values, invite crime and are havens for prostitution."

Many of the comments I receive regarding this issue are unfortunately negative. Why is that? I think this is good indication that as a community, we are losing our moral compass. Our hearts need a transformation and until that occurs, we will argue this issue into the ground.

It's somewhat comical to me when I read the comments of those who think they have my motives all figured out. At first, people thought I was a strip club owner who was afraid of competition from Gentlemen's Club 10. Now I am accused of being "anti-sex" and biased against men who like to pay for it.

Here's the deal. I believe that sex is a gift from God and should be enjoyed to its fullest within the context of marriage. I have a problem with anything that deviates from that standard. God's design for sexual relations is such that it shouldn't be selfish, harmful or promiscuous. Sexual activity outside of marriage commonly results in disease, depression and sometimes death (from infection or abuse). The more an individual indulges in forms of sexual activity that deviate from that standard, the more he or she becomes susceptible to one of those three problems.

God has blessed us with a great country. I'm sure that we all enjoy living here. I enjoy the freedom to express my opinion on this matter, and believe it or not, I also appreciate hearing from others.... even if we disagree.

Historically, great countries fall from within. If we want to destroy our country, all we have to do is destroy its basic building block.... the family. We can effectively ruin most aspects of what holds our country together if we spend just one or two more generations tearing the family down. I'm learning that most people aren't looking very far down this road. To some, sex and sexual entertainment are more important that the common good. That's unfortunate.

If possible, please give this perspective a little thought.

  • Personally speaking, the destruction of the "family" all started with women deciding to "leave" the home.
For centuries a womans place was in the home. Caring for the home, teaching and caring for children. If you were not a wife or a mom, you were a nurse or a teacher.
A man had his place and a woman had her place traditionally.
It was decided by a group or women to "break" away from "family" and more and more women began to work.
In a home where an absentee father was, now the mom was also gone, leaving the children to care virtually for themselves which lead to a downward spiral in family values. Latchkey kids, TV babies etc...
Leaving us to 2006 where so many women in their 30's are deciding to leave their corporate jobs and care for their children in the home because now they feel that something is not quite right.
Although this is an upturn in the family, so much damage has already been done that it will take years for any site of real change.
To everything a season and time and a reason.

    Something to think about~

  • My wife and I thoroughly enjoy a trip to a local strip bar sometimes. It ignites the fire. You should try it.

  • I applaud you convictions. I think that if you feel "sex is a gift from God and should be enjoyed to its fullest within the context of marriage" that is a wonderful thing. Also that you believe "I have a problem with anything that deviates from that standard". That too is wonderful. But where that wonderful feeling stops is when you tell me what I can and cannot see or do. What is right for you is not right for everyone. The last time I checked, this was still a free country. People are free to choose what they will say, think or feel. Until this strip club has shown that it is a blight on society, I have no problem with it. If it becomes detrimental to our community, by all means let the proper authorities shut it down. Until then no self-righteous individual has the authority to say what I can or cannot do. Even you Mr. Family

    Have a great day!

  • You beleive sex is a gift from god. What about pepple of different religions? What about people that are Agnostic? Do you consider them? No you don't. Some religions sex is with many people. Sometimes strangers, some times the marry multiple people. You seem to only think about a certian group. Not everyone has yor views or opinions.
You also stated "Sexual activity outside of marriage commonly results in disease, depression and sometimes death (from infection or abuse). The more an individual indulges in forms of sexual activity that deviate from that standard, the more he or she becomes susceptible to one of those three problems."
What standards are these? Depression? I don't kwno how you do it, but sex never leads to depression with anyone I know. And if you practice safe sex, and are careful with your partners you will not get a disease.
Much of your statments seem religion based. Do not forget not everyone is of your faith. Other have different beleifes. And in some other religions sex is explored.

  • It wasn't recently discovered. The news about a 14yr old dancing is old news, about 1 year old or more to be exact. Also in the article, they talked about the gambling and gave only a small sentence on the bottom about the 6 girls.

If it wasn't for the gambling, the bust at superdad's would of never happened.

  • i agree with gclub10 being in the wrong area.. i think it should be located somewhere on s.main st.. i don't agree with you using the religion as a striking point.. frankly.. there is no god - it's all fictitious my friend.. the sooner people figure this out - i'll have to stop grocery shopping on sunday mornings.. it's so peacefull when all the hypocritical people lock themselves inside compounds.

  • Mr. Family, I'm an eighteen-year-old NEPA resident and i understand that you want to better the community, but I believe you're going a bit too far.

Club 10 has already opened and I don't think anything's going to happen to it in regards to its closing. There are many other strip clubs out there; Club 10 is just the newest. Why target that one?

Although I don't agree with the idea of strip clubs, it's just based on my morals and values. People all over lead different lifestyles, completely from those of my own and yours, I'm sure, and bad or not, we're all individuals. We are able to express ourselves as we please.

Just as I don't believe in strip clubs, as an atheist I also don't agree nor believe that religion should be able to pop up in your posts, but religion pops up anyway.

There's just things that we as people have to look away, grit our teeth and bare. Dealing with unfavorable things is just a common occurence in life.

You said that strip clubs and the like (ie. adult bookstores & its private viewing booths) can breed a whole lot of repulsive and negative things, but so can the local convenient store at 12 a.m. or your own street corner.

Everything can be horrible, but being that it's a strip club, the negatives can be more noticeable. I don't agree with the thought of women parading around for men's (and women's as well) sexual arousal for I believe that it is highly degrading, but hey, I don't like a lot of things as well.

I guess the most I can say is...you're probably wasting your time. If something bad is brewing there, I'm sure that law enforcement will know of it in no time. Until then, join the police force or something...I bet there are dozens of pounds in crack being sold right now.

But did you ever stop and consider that a vast majority of people in this community, no less the rest of the country, don't have a problem with it?

Your's and the Catholic church's ideas about sex and marriage are not the only ones in this great country of our's. I believe that's where freedom of religion with the idea of seperation of church and state in the Constitution's 1st Amendment comes into play.

    Or doesn't that matter anymore?

  • I personaly enjoy going to these strip clubs. You have it all wrong about the way the girls act inside. I've been to all the byob clubs in the area and they all have a no contact,no touching rule that is strickly enforced. I've seen people getting thrown out for not obeying those rules.I would also like to say I'm happily married for 8yrs. & my wife would want me to go to these clubs instead of the woodlands or etc. where drunk girls throw themselfs at you for a major risk of divorce.Your facts are all wrong. Atleast I get to use my Mr.Family coupon for a discount, so thank you for that.Whenever you want to take my picture in front of clubg10, let me know so I can give you a big smile.

  • "there is no god"

Oh dear poster, I will have to disagree with you on this point,
There is a God and when you get where you are going you will surely change your mind!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:11 AM

  • Mr. Family, its Christians like you is the reason why I stopped going to church. You all try to better this world with your values by crusading against every little thing you deem wrong in your eyes.

But think about it, isn't God going to punish all of us sinners in the end? So why not just sit back and wait for us to get whats comming us.

  • Is Mr. Family going to go after gay bars and clubs next?
    After all, gay people cannot
marry, so the thing about sex outside of marriage would apply to them also.

  • For those people that do not believe in God, no explanation will do, but for those who do believe, no explantion is needed.

  • thanks for editing my post.. it seems you are straying away from the sole purpose of advertising this website to preaching about religion. i'm not knocking you or your purpose.. but if you want community support you should stop the subliminal messages and focus on exposing the people that are supporting these filthy establishments.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:43 PM

  • Hello "anonymous" from 7:43pm. I'm not sure what post you are claiming I "edited." Blogger doesn't allow me to edit the wording of a post. I can only choose to make comments public or not. I choose to post most comments, with very rare exceptions.

The are no subliminal message here. I am a religious man, so please don't be surprised when comments that express my faith are used in my posts.

I'm glad that we agree that exposing this problem is a good thing. Please know that I am also doing my best to express my reasons for doing so.

    Hope this response clarified things.

True, you may not be able to edit the post, but you could copy it, not make the original public, and then cut and paste your edited version of the original post into a new comment posting it as Anonymous. ;)

Then again, you posted your reply only 32 minutes after my post. How many people keep track of the time that they posted their comment? Give or take a couple of minutes and nobody really notices...

  • Morals are not the same for everyone. Everyone grows up differently and have a different moral compass. Trying to push your morals on the rest of society doesn't work.

If religion was so great, why are 99% of the wars fought because of it?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:45 AM

  • I can safely say that I disagree with trying to "out" those who visit the club... Why are you punishing them? They are not the ones who opened the establishment there - They are merely going where they can to get the entertainment they want...

FURTHERMORE... Please leave religion out of this... Just because one visits a strip club doesn't mean he/she is a sinner. God loves and accepts everyone for who they are - He can see beyond the so called "faults", because in his eyes we are all perfect... I'm not stating this because I'm on a religion rage - I'm stating this because God is completely IRRELEVANT in this matter.

If someone chooses to visit or frequent an establishment of this choice (which my boyfriend and I frequently do), it's totally their choice. Don't tell them how to live their life. We're all over the age of 18, and we can make adult decisions. We don't need someone watching our every move acting like a "parent" and telling us what we can and can't do.

Mr. Family, you are best off to leave this alone. If there is something "illegal" about it, I guarantee you the higher authorities will find it and cease it.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:27 PM

  • God is never "irrelevant."

By Blogger Mr. Family, at 6:10 PM

  • You took my statement out of context Mr. Family. I guess I need to further explain myself here - The idea that God supposedly looks down on those of us who attend strip clubs is irrelevant.

You claim to be religious, so then why are you making such a mockery of those who are different than you and what you believe?

*I am putting the subject of God to rest on my end - This isn't about religion*

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:26 PM

  • Mr. Family said:

    "God is never "irrelevant.""

Well, alot of people operate under what they think God means or, in reality, manipulate His words into what they want. Case in point:

    http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/fugitives/jeff_ws.htm

He uses the word of God to allow his twisted point of view to sway people who truly believe in God into doing what he alone wants.

Religion can be a positive influence on human life or a complete detriment, no matter what religion it is.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:17 AM

  • Look, to be fair it should be noted that Superdad's did not "allow" the 14 year old girl to dance. That was the result of subterfuge on the part of said girl and another woman who may or may not have been a dancer. The girl used her older sister's drivers license to get in. Why debate a point unless you get your facts straight?
